My songs for today came within minutes of each other.
A friend sent an e-mail reminding me of U2’s Yahweh, in particular these lines:
“…always pain before the child is born – why the dark before the dawn”
And then a few minutes later, while jogging, it was Switchfoot’s Learning to Breathe on my iPod:
Hello, good morning, how ya do?
What makes your rising sun so new?
I could use a fresh beginning too
All of my regrets are nothing newSo this is the way
that I say that I need You
This is the way
This is the wayThat I’m learning to breathe
I’m learning to crawl
I’m finding that You and
You alone can break my fall
I’m living again, awake and alive
I’m dying to breathe in these abundant skiesHello, good morning, how ya been?
Yesterday left my head kicked in
I never thought I could fall like that
Never knew that I could hurt this badI’m learning to breathe
I’m learning to crawl
I’m finding that You and
You alone can break my fall
I’m living again, awake and alive
I’m dying to breathe in these abundant skies
Whatever happened to songs like “Rolled Away Rolled Away Rolled Away” and “I’ll be a sunshine for Jesus”? How about “Onward Christian SOLDIERS”?
The times are changing, so it seems!
