Rambling top of the head thoughts

I shall now commence with a really boring blog post, because I can’t come up with scintillating conversation.

Last night, I won a game of Settlers of Catan. It was close: My 10 to 9 to 9 to 8. Elaine’s brother and sister-in-law are here, and that’s the first I’ve been in the running in the four games we played.

I have flu symptoms, but I refuse to believe that I have the flu. I will admit to being irritable, and a vote among my family members would probably come out 4 to 1 in favor of irritability on my part (Aubrey’s my one hope for the 1. And speaking of Aubrey, I love this picture Elaine took of her at the church retreat.)

After finding mouse droppings under our kitchen sink, after cleaning like mad, and after spreading poison under the house and setting a mouse trap, I can confirm two dead mice and no further droppings. (Please don’t call PETA or call into question my pacifism. I am only against killing human beings; rodents may be removed for our health concerns.)

I saw the end of the Rose Bowl, and I thought Vince Young was outstanding. Dude stepped up big time, with all the pressure on his shoulders.

I don’t understand Pat Robertson. I don’t understand so many people reading the highly confusing apocalyptic stuff in scripture and being so sure that the current state of Israel, with its convoluted history, must be supported without question.

I can’t imagine what it would be like to work in a coal mine, or what I would do if someone I loved was given up for dead, miraculously saved, and dead again in a very short span of time.

I can’t seem to finish “Catcher in the Rye.” I read my geek Christmas gift, Revolution in the Valley, cover to cover in a matter of two days. Salinger’s classic has been sitting on my nightstand for months, and when I pick it up, I like it just fine, but I just can’t seem to finish it. (Speaking of geek gifts, I also got the re-issue of Mattel’s Classic Football 2 from Talli. Amazing how much I can enjoy little red blips on a screen, because it brings back memories of being a kid.)

Been working on the redesign of Gregg’s Gambles to the WordPress platform, with Jason’s help. Gonna be sweet.

And that’s all I have to say about that.
