Thanks for voting in round 1! Now it’s time to fill out the bracket of sixteen. Vote on the following matchups by Tuesday night at 7 pm PST!
#10 seed “Mary’s Lullaby” by The Porter’s Gate (submitted by Sammie Eilert) tries to hold its spot in the bracket against challenger #23 “Here Comes Santa Claus” by Gene Autry, submitted by Becky Ankeny.
Bethany Bylsma submitted #9 “Winter Song” by Leslie Odom Jr., facing perennial scourge to my existence and crowd favorite (with a #24 seed) The Muppets, singing “Christmas Wish” and submitted by Melanie Mock.
#8 is “Cry for Hope”, from Garth Hewitt’s album Palestine is Calling, submitted by Carol Sherwood. #25 was submitted by newcomer to Advent Caroling Madness, Kelly Cromwell: it’s “Mary Did You Know” by Peter Hollens.
Twila LeMar brings us Celine Dion’s “O Holy Night” in the #7 seed, against Robin Mohr’s # 26 “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” by the Jackson 5. (I absolutely LOVE this song, and if the theme was danceable Christmas tunes it would dominate. But if my hope is in Santa Claus showing up, I’m sunk.)
Stevie Wonder sings the #6 “Someday at Christmas”, submitted by Samara Eilert and Josh Reid. Andy Comfort’s #27 “The Hope of Christmas” by Matthew West will try and bring the upset.
Finally and unsurprisingly, I gave a high #5 seed to my own submission. 🙂 All Shall Be Well, by Ordinary Time will face the #28 seed, “Favorite Time of Year” by RJ Griffith, submitted by Tom Segal. The winner will be in the #5 slot.
Remember to vote by Tuesday at 7 pm PST!
