Day 1

I woke this morning knowing that Aubrey and I would be heading to the zoo. We were surprised with a crystal clear January day, and had as much fun as I guessed we would-MAX train, elephant ear, elephant baby, and Aubrey giving fun animal facts she learned from Wild Kratts.

Driving home, I was thinking of my grandpa. As a kid my brother and I spent many Saturdays at my grandparents’ house, which meant many Saturdays watching college football with him. His beloved Stanford Cardinal team won the Rose Bowl today, but alas, broadcast television didn’t carry the game, so I didn’t get to see it. The world has changed.

Made a veggie pizza that got the oldest’s stamp of approval, so all in all, 2013 is off to a stellar start.

  1. We saw the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl on tv in Santa Barbara. It was a good game, but you know that already. I really liked the old fashioned parade coverage, with anecdotes about each float and band, and no cheesy pop stars hogging all the attention with their lip synching dance routines. Less fun was the sick kid, but he’s better now. Crossing our fingers that the germs aren’t going to work their way through the rest of the family…
