What (you may ask if you haven’t been around) is Advent Caroling Madness? It’s the chance to nominate and vote for the best version of a particular Christmas song—a fun way to find new music, feel superior when others vote terribly, and annoy me with submissions from the Muppet Christmas Carol.
I had the brilliant idea of melding my love of Christmas music and March Madness over a decade ago, and we’ve been at it ever since. (More in-depth background at this link.) You submit a favorite version of the song (preferably on YouTube for ease of voting); I set it up in a seeded bracket; and we all vote for our favorites in head to head matchups until we are down to the best (or at least most popular) one.
So let’s go! This year will be Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Find a favorite version (or two or three) on YouTube and send me the link (as a comment here, or a comment on the social media post.) Deadline: Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 5:00 pm PST.
