Constructing Truth—Part 12

I would suggest that our biggest task to tackle is not uncovering bias in the media. It isn’t finding bias “out there.”

Our biggest challenge is finding and naming bias in ourselves.

It is figuring out how to be who we are, in all our particular-ness, living alongside others with different particular-ness.

It is wrestling together to find how our different particular-nesses reflect the universal, how they reflect goodness, how they reflect truth. Our challenge and our joy is discovering how our different particular-nesses reflect the Divine and the universal.

And then our task is constructing a story, a worldview, a philosophy which is coherent, and flexible, and growing, and strong. We need a story and perspective which gives us a place to stand, and from which we can choose concrete, particular, here-and-now expressions of goodness as we live our lives in this world.

How do we do it? That’s the question.
